Connecting Project Jordan, The Master Plan, & A Legacy of Worship

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PROJECT JORDAN, THE MASTER PLAN, AND A LEGACY OF WORSHIP?

Throughout this entire process, you have heard many references to all three of these, but what exactly are they?  Are they simply various ways we have referenced the same ministry expansion project or are they three separate and independent projects?

Perhaps we can summarize by saying that they are uniquely different parts to a single ministry expansion project, which is, ensuring that Fellowship Church is maximizing our land and facilities to provide God-honoring worship through our mission and vision, and being a community-based worshipping, growing and serving church now, as well as for generations to come.

To better understand, it’s fair to say that PROJECT JORDAN represents the vision work for this ministry expansion, THE MASTER PLAN is the crystallizing of that vision, and A LEGACY OF WORSHIP represents the action steps we believe God wants us to take to move this ministry forward.

Let’s take a look at all three in greater detail:

PROJECT JORDAN

We have a tremendous responsibility to be godly stewards of the land and buildings which God has blessed us with.  This responsibility is not limited to only addressing our current ministry needs, but also continuing to look ahead to be sure that the church is established for ministering to future generations as well; much like those who have come before us have done.  In 2011, the Pastors and Elders assembled a team known as Project Jordan.  The group was charged with collecting a great deal of information and data on our church campus and property for the purpose of determining how they were currently being used to fulfill our mission.  The intent was to use the information to ensure our facilities were being maximized for that purpose, as well as for long-term planning.

THE MASTER PLAN

The work of the Project Jordon team revealed that, in order for us to effectively continue our mission for future generations and maximize our ministry opportunities as a church, our campus was in need of many repairs and upgrades.  From this information collected by the Project Jordan team, it became evident that the next step for us would be to develop a specific plan for addressing our needs.  The team recommended to the congregation that we hire Horst Construction, a Christian owned & operated organization referred to us through relationships with the EFCA and other churches, to help us develop this plan.

Through a great deal of work by our elders, ministry leaders, committees and sub-committees made up of Fellowship members and attenders, and the expertise of many people – both inside and outside of our church, a Master Plan was developed.

Executing the Master Plan was voted on and approved by church members, and was a relatively low cost / low risk exercise that allowed us to define our needs through the input and feedback of ministry leaders and the congregation. Based on this information and an analysis of our current space and land, Horst developed this Master Plan to show us what our eventual goals should be.

The Master Plan involves a complete remodel and reconfiguration of our existing space, some major additions, including a dedicated worship space, and also addresses other important issues such as parking and septic.

A LEGACY OF WORSHIP

Since the initial discussion of vision back in 2011, the Project Jordan team had collected a significant amount of information so we could crystalize the vision into a clear and concise Master Plan.  Now, nearly six years after Project Jordan’s first meeting, God has led the process to where we are today: preparing to step out in faith and begin a capital campaign to raise awareness and the funds in order that our Master Plan is executed.  We call this capital campaign A Legacy of Worship because this church has a long history of seeking to worship God in the way that He has asked us to and this project is all about maximizing and growing that legacy.

Legacy ties us to something that has already been happening and going on, something given to us by those who started this church long before us, but legacy also moves us forward, what are we leaving behind for those that come after us, what will the next few generations say about our generation of worshippers?

This initiative falls directly in-line with our mission as a church, the very reason why we exist. Accomplishing this goal, and bringing the vision to a reality, is the responsibility of the church. It is through your God-led sacrificial giving that these things will be realized.

In the coming weeks and months you will be asked to make a commitment towards the campaign.  We encourage you to pray, and consecrate yourself so that you would be fully prepared to follow God’s leading.

As you can see, all three of these major components of this ministry expansion, Project Jordan, The Master Plan, and A Legacy of Worship, represent individual yet intertwined processes related to a single ministry expansion initiative directly and purposefully tied to our vision and mission:  to pervade the Back Mountain, Wyoming Valley and the world with the gospel by making disciples who make disciples and who display the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ in every phase of their lives.
