Next Steps: Pre-Construction – A Legacy of Worship – Fellowship Church Dallas

Next Steps: Pre-Construction

The Congregation met on the evening of the 23rd to hear from the Elders the next step in the process for A Legacy of Worship.  This process has been on-going for more than a year, first as Project Jordan and then, gradually being transformed into A Legacy of Worship, which we have heard so much about since the beginning of 2017.

It has been the vision of the Elders to work with Horst Construction Company as a three-phase plan for our campus gradually unfolded.  On the evening of the 23rd, the next big step in the process was approved by the Congregation in an anonymous ballot vote.

The Elders had obtained competitive bids from three general contractors to execute the vision that had been painted by Horst prior to the end of 2016.  In that vision, the first phase was to be for a new gathering space and new worship center.  In addition, the Elders provided a recap of the pledging to-date.

The Elders proposed and it was accepted that our church commit to an expenditure of up to $220,000 in “Pre-construction” costs to be undertaken by Horst.  This “Pre-construction” expenditure would do several things; it would designate Horst as the Construction Project Manager, it would establish an estimated construction budget for Phase I (Worship Center, Foyer and Entrance) of $2.2 million and it would allow for the development of all construction documents (plans, blueprints, permits, etc.) for the entire project – Phases I, II and III.

Our church is not obligated to continue with Horst should things not go as planned.  We are free to utilize other construction companies should we choose to do so.  However, the plans will remain the property of Horst.  It is expected that with our current giving and the timetable for the development of the “Pre-construction” documentation, we should see ground-breaking in the spring/summer of 2018.

Lest anyone doubt that our God is control, it should be noted that of the 66 church members attending the Congregational Meeting, the outcome of the vote was 66 in favor and 0 opposed.  Such unanimity among so many people cannot be accidental or coincidental.

To God be the Glory!
